Required Certifications
BLS Certification, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Shift Notes
Nights with potential days coverage if needed - plus call; scheduled 3 out of 4 wkends per schedule if needed; Ability to be overstaffed three 12hr shifts per contract with call back
Required Qualifications
- Current Minnesota RN license
- Current BLS certification
- Current NRP certification
- Minimum of 1 year of full-time LDRP experience
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Completion of a Fetal Heart Monitoring course preferred
LDRP Unit Overview
Schedule
- Rotating day/night shifts
- Rotating weekday/weekend schedule
Unit Statistics
- Approximately 25–33 births per month
- 10 total patient rooms:
- 6 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) birthing suites
- 4 postpartum/surgical rooms
Provider Coverage
- 3 OB/GYN physicians
- 4 Family Practice physicians who perform deliveries
- Lactation Consultant available 3 days per week
Staffing Ratios
- Labor: 1 RN per labor patient
- Postpartum: 1 RN typically cares for up to 2 mother/baby couplets (occasionally up to 3 couplets)
Patient Population
- Primarily low-risk obstetric patients
- High-risk pregnancies are generally transferred to Duluth whenever appropriate
- Nurses do not circulate during C-sections; responsibilities are limited to assisting with neonatal care
