Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a CO or compact RN license, with rotating 12-hour shifts and a focus on advanced cardiac procedures.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes critically ill adults requiring circulatory and respiratory support, including open-heart surgeries, ventricular assist devices, heart and lung transplants, ECMO, aortic aneurysm repair, and complex vascular/thoracic cases
- Unit has 24 beds, with nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity, varying from 1:2, 1:1, to 2:1
- Uses Epic for charting
- Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts covering all days of the week
- Six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule period
- No on-call requirement
- Floating to other similar units required as needed
- Responsibilities include providing advanced cardiovascular critical care to adult patients undergoing high-acuity procedures and transplants
- Works within a multidisciplinary team focused on holistic health, education, and improving patient outcomes
- Navy scrubs are required
- Up to 10 days of requested time off are allowed per contract, with blackout periods during specified holidays and peak times
- Completion of pre-start orientation modules on first day required
- Candidates who have worked for this health system in any capacity in the past two years will not be considered
- No blocked scheduling requests are permitted
- Local candidates within 75 miles may be eligible at a different rate
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required
- Current certifications in AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in critical care or cardiovascular ICU settings
- Epic charting experience preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
